The Eco Camp is a continuation of the dream of the late Antonio R. Mercado which
began in Forest Club Eco Resort in the early 1990s. Mr. Mercado wanted to
re-create the forest of his youth, the forest of Nabunturan in what is now
Tagum City in Davao. He bought the land where the Eco Camp now stands, formerly
a pineapple plantation, in the mid 1990s and planted rows and rows of
indigenous Philippine trees like Narra, Molave, Yakal and Ipil.
