Utility operated generation resources are the hub of the network and electricity flows one-way via distribution networks largely controlled by the same utilities. In this model, there has been little reason for utilities to share anything but a small slice of data about their operations with anyone else other than themselves.

Silicon Production On the Rise in China

According to statistics released by the China Photovoltaic Industry Association, factories across the country produced 143,000 tons of polycrystalline silicon during the first half of this year, a year-over-year increase of 24 percent. Silicon chips manufactured soared to 50 GW during the same period, up 38.9 percent, of which, 52.7 percent were monocrystalline. Battery chips coming off production lines totaled 39 GW, up 21.9, of which, 41 percent were monocrystalline. Output of battery components reached 42 GW, up 23.5 percent.

From August to September this year, the Ningxia Office of the Northwest China Energy Regulatory Bureau of the China National Energy Administration wanted to better understand the issues facing local solar and wind producers in the region, especially concerning implementation of renewable energy subsidies for power generation. The bureau's goal was to understand what could be done to help producers solve practical difficulties around the subsidies. The methodology of the survey included data collection, panel discussions and field visits, as well as input from industry analysts.

ENGIE NA Starting Kansas Wind Project under PPA with Brown-Forman

Dominion Energy Launches Green Bonds Program

Dominion Energy on Friday said that it had closed its inaugural offering of green bonds. The $362 million in privately placed bond proceeds will be used to reimburse Dominion Energy for previously deployed capital related to the acquisition, development and/or construction of 20 merchant solar projects with a total capacity of 574 MW of renewable energy.
